MELAMPAUI NARASI STIGMATISASI IDENTITAS PEREMPUAN PENGGEMAR: BTS ARMY

Jasmine Floretta Vasthia Devi

Abstract

Decades have passed but female fans who love male idols are still stigmatized, judged, and reduced to their existence in society and popular culture. This is what also happened to ARMY, fans of the male idol group BTS. Using a literature review elaborated through a feminist perspective, this article will discuss how ARMY is stigmatized not only because of the perceived inferiority of women and the domination of men in society, but also because of their love for male groups including male groups. subordinated within the circle of hegemonic masculinity. However, the gender stigma and stereotype attached to them was successfully broken. ARMY as a female fan group realizes that in essence humans are free creatures who must always make choices in life that will shape them as authentic individuals. With this full awareness, they took action through fan labor and fan activism practices, which in the end led them to optimize their Creative Self.
